  Based on the latest standards for LED bead testing methods both domestically and internationally, and based on the practical requirements of LED bead applications, the electrical, optical, switching, color, thermal, and reliability characteristics of LED beads are introduced.

  For the testing of electrical characteristics, the standard specifies the test block diagrams for the DC voltage, reverse voltage, and reverse current of LED lamp beads; The standard specifies the use of a 2 π solid angle testing structure for luminous flux testing; For light intensity testing, the standard cites the recommended conditions of CIE-127; In addition, there are spectral testing, thermal characteristic testing, electrostatic discharge sensitivity testing, life testing, etc. All have clear definitions.

  The development of the national standard has summarized the existing LED bead testing methods, upgraded scientific and applicable methods to standard testing methods, eliminated differences in the field of LED bead testing, and made the test results more truly reflect the overall level of China's LED bead industry. However, given the continuous development of LED bead technology, the formulation of national standards is not a one-time solution, and the latest and most suitable detection technologies must always be introduced into the standards.

  Electrical characteristic testing methods

  LED beads are unipolar PN junction diodes composed of semiconductor inorganic materials, and the relationship between their voltage and current is called the volt ampere characteristic. The electrical characteristics parameters of LED beads include forward current, DC voltage, reverse current, and reverse voltage. LED beads must be driven by appropriate current and voltage to function properly (as shown in Figure 1). By testing the electrical characteristics of LED beads, the maximum allowable DC voltage, forward current, reverse voltage, and current of LED beads can be obtained. In addition, the optimal working electrical power of LED beads can also be measured.
