  Currently, liquid crystal display technology mostly revolves around TN, STN, and TFT technologies, so we will explore their operating principles from these three technologies. The TN type LCD display technology can be said to be the most basic among LCD displays, and other types of LCD displays can also be said to be improved based on the TN type. Similarly, its operating principle is simpler than other technologies. Please refer to the pictures below. The figure shows a simple construction diagram of a TN type liquid crystal display, including a polarizing plate in the vertical and horizontal directions, a directional film with fine grooves, liquid crystal materials, and a conductive glass substrate. The imaging principle is to place the liquid crystal material between two transparent conductive glass plates attached to the optical axis perpendicular to the polarizing plate. The liquid crystal molecules will rotate and arrange in order according to the direction of the thin grooves of the film. If the electric field is not formed, the light will smoothly enter the polarizing plate, rotate its direction according to the liquid crystal molecules, and then shoot out from the other side. If two conductive glass sheets are electrified, an electric field will be created between them, which will affect the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules between them, causing their molecular rods to twist and prevent light from penetrating, thereby blocking the light source. The phenomenon of light dark contrast obtained in this way is called the twisted nematic field effect, abbreviated as TNFE (twisted nematic field effect). Almost all liquid crystal displays used in electronic products are made using the principle of twisted nematic field effect. The display principle of the STN type is similar, except that the TN twisted nematic field effect of liquid crystal molecules rotates the incident light by 90 degrees, while the STN super twisted nematic field effect rotates the incident light by 180-270 degrees. It should be noted here that pure Twisted nematic field effect displays only have light and dark (or black and white), and there is no way to achieve color change. The STN display display involves the relationship between liquid crystal materials and the interference of light, so the colors displayed are mainly light green and orange. However, if a color filter is added to the traditional monochrome super-twisted nematic display display, and any pixel of the monochrome display matrix is divided into three sub pixels, the red, green, and blue primary colors are displayed through the color filter, and then the color of the full-color mode can also be displayed by blending the three primary colors. In addition, if the TN type LCD display screen is made larger, its screen contrast will appear poor. However, with STN's improved technology, it can make up for the lack of contrast.
