The soft material on the surface of a liquid crystal display screen is accurately called a polarizer (PLZ), which has the function of filtering light.
If there is no such layer on the LCD screen, you will not be able to see any display at all, because when the LCD screen is working, after filtering out the light in the X or Y direction, the remaining parallel light will not be visible to the naked eye without the polarization display of the polarizer.
Polarizer is a soft and thin material that cannot be scratched, stabbed, or abraded in production. Therefore, it is important to be careful when using it. Even if it is slightly damaged, it may not affect the overall display effect, but it may not look so comfortable on the appearance. It is still not necessary to deliberately perform harmful actions such as pressing, scratching, or stabbing.
So that layer of soft material, called a polarizer, is used together with liquid crystals to achieve optical rotation and development.
In the production process, people first print two pieces of universal tempered glass with a circuit (transparent ITO material), then apply frame adhesive around the two pieces, and then press them in place. Then, liquid crystal is poured into the middle of the glass on both sides, sealing the liquid crystal port, and the next work is to attach a layer of such polarizers above and below the glass.
The polarizing plates attached to the upper and lower glass cannot simultaneously filter out light in the same direction. For example, if the lower polarizing plate filters light in the X direction, the upper layer must filter light in the Y direction. If the angle of the filtering between the upper and lower polarizing plates is the same, the liquid crystal display cannot be seen by the naked eye when working, but in fact, the liquid crystal display is still working normally, but the polarized light cannot be seen by the naked eye.
